The basic components of an RO system include a pre-filter to remove things such as rust and lime. And an RO module containing the membrane filter. Also an activated carbon post-filter to remove residual taste and odor. Also each RO unit has a pure water storage tank. And includes a shut-off valve that stops the water flow when the storage tank is full. And this saves hundreds of gallons of water each year. Also pre-filters containing activated carbon are usually used to protect chlorine-sensitive membranes.
