Tigard purchases about 90 percent of its water from providers such as the Portland Water Bureau. The PWB manages the Bull Run Watershed, which is a surface water supply. When needed, the PWB also maintains ground water wells located along the Columbia River. Tigard also purchases water from the City of Lake Oswego. Lake Oswego draws its water from the Clackamas River Basin. During periods of high water demand Tigard can supplement its supply with water from aquifer storage and recovery wells and native groundwater wells.
Tigard's water hardness ranges from one-third to one-half grains per gallon. Lead is 15.0 ppb and copper is 1.30 ppm.

Calcium and magnesium create one of the most notable changes in your water. As a result, these tasteless minerals dissolve in the water and create hard water. Specifically, hard water poses no health risk. Although, it can create numerous challenges for the consumer. The higher the hardness the more effort it takes for soap to perform its cleansing action. Hard water leaves soap deposits in sinks, dishes and glassware. Also, it can create scaly calcium deposits on faucets, shower heads and coolers.
