The District of Columbia's (Washington D.C.) drinking water is drawn from the Potomac River at Great Falls and Little Falls. The water is treated at two plants (Dalecarlia and McMillan). Additionally the DC Water and Sewage Authority purchases the water and then distributes it to homes spanning a 1300 mile area.
City Water Treatment Systems
Our most popular City Water Softener/Conditioner: Premium Dual Purpose Water Softener Conditioner replaces Culligan®, Sears®, Kinetico®, Ionics®, RainSoft®, EcoWater®, Hague® and virtually all others. You can change the media in it if your water changes. Specifically it takes care of taste, smells, odors, dry skin, stiff or coarse clothing, chlorine, chemicals, soap scum. Therefore giving you luxurious suds. Basically, it raises your quality of life (at a fraction of the cost). One unit does it all without mixing media which is not recommended.

Common Minerals
Calcium and magnesium create one of the most notable changes in your water. As a result, these tasteless minerals dissolve in the water and create hard water. Specifically, hard water poses no health risk. Although, it can create numerous challenges for the consumer. Also, the higher the hardness the more effort it takes for soap to perform its cleansing action. Additionally, hard water leaves soap deposits in sinks, dishes and glassware. Finally, it can create scaly calcium deposits on faucets, shower heads and coolers. An ion exchange water softener removes calcium and magnesium ions by replacing them with sodium or potassium.
