The EWW raw water supply is obtained exclusively from Lake Erie. Operated are two (2) separate raw water intake lines that serve two (2) complete water filtration plants and pumping stations. Both of these plants are directly connected to a complex and ever expanding network of distribution lines that supply water to all of the EWW 52,000 customers.
The average hardness level for Erie water is: 121.2 ppm.

Specifically, hard water poses no health risk. Although, it can create numerous challenges for the consumer. The higher the hardness the more effort it takes for soap to perform its cleansing action. Hard water leaves soap deposits in sinks, dishes and glassware. Also, it can create scaly calcium deposits on faucets, shower heads and coolers.
