WELL WATER RETENTION TANKS
Well water retention tanks. Are they necessary? Normally the ONLY reason to use retention tanks is for harmful bacteria such as e-coli or coliform. The use of retention tanks for iron bacteria, sulfur and iron applications is a way to create extra income and service calls for in home sale companies and online companies who are either ignorant or looking for residual income from unsuspecting customers.
For example chlorine neutralizes sulfur INSTANTLY, as they are both gases and cancel each other out, without the need for retention tanks. But many companies do it anyway knowing there is no need. For example a simple chlorine feeder and Terminox™ tank can remove iron bacteria and sulfur from problem well water with no carbon tanks or retention tanks at all.
In fact, if you don't have a 120 gallon retention tank for every 6 gallons of flow rate. The only purpose for retention is extra maintenance and service calls. Buyers beware of any company who suggests retention tanks and/or carbon tank for iron bacteria, sulfur or manganese. And anything else that does not include e-coli, coliform or harmful bacteria.
